10 Tips to Cultivate Joy

    • Look for opportunities to be grateful each day – even about the most trivial things, like three green traffic lights in a row.  (For extra credit, start a daily gratitude journal.)


  • Say “I love you” to those you care about as often as possible – and show them that you really mean it.


  • Treat others the same way you would like to be treated. Have you ever noticed that people tend to greet you the same way as you greeted them?


  • Connect with animals and nature. A little bit of sunshine, fresh air or a wagging tail can do wonders for your soul.


  • Laugh, laugh and laugh some more – even at yourself (hey, it’s better than being critical!)


  • Forgive others…for your own sake if not theirs. You can still set boundaries and protect yourself from being hurt again, but do it without grudges or hostility.


  • Be impeccable with your word. Talk is cheap – if you say you’re going to do something, do it!


  • Be yourself, without any shame or apology. The world doesn’t need another faker.


  • Treat your body like it’s the most precious thing you own. (It is.)


  • Look for the good in everything that’s around you. If you look, you WILL find it. (Hint: it may help to tune out the news.)
